Battle history of the Navy. Fire and water / a Lou Reda production ; written by Norman Stahl with Col. Joe Alexander.
Fire and Water continues the rich story of the United States Navy. Realizing that the Japanese had an advantage over U.S. warfare technology, the Navy needed to make some significant changes. After almost being dismantled in WWI, the Navy began introducing aircraft carriers and submarines to their fleet. With the leadership of brilliant and morale-boosting men like Nimitz, Halsey and Doolittle, the Navy reigned supreme at the Battle of Midway, causing the Japanese to surrender and giving the U.S. strategic control over the Pacific.
