Summary:

Sensitively recreating the trials of Truffaut's own childhood, portraying aloof parents, oppressive teachers, petty crime, and a friendship that would last a lifetime. A youth surviving without much direction from parents or school becomes involved in more and more illegal activities until he ends up in a detention center.
